Desert Essentials Manufacturing (Pty) Ltd, established in 2025, is a proudly Namibian company specializing in the manufacture of high-quality salt lick blocks for livestock, game and horses. We also make dishwasher and water softener salt tablets. We use pure, locally sourced solar sea salt and natural minerals to create products that are free from additives, binding agents, and harmful chemicals. Our animal blocks are designed to let livestock self-regulate their mineral intake, supporting health, growth, fertility, and immunity, particularly in areas with mineral-deficient soil and vegetation.
Our range includes pure salt and mineral-infused salt blocks tailored for specific animal health benefits, flavoured horse licks, and pure salt tablets that improve appliance efficiency and hygiene. Our salt lick blocks use the purest natural ingredients with salt locally sourced in Namibia. There are no additives aside from the salt and the specified minerals – no binding agents, sediment or hidden chemicals! The blocks are compressed and are hard wearing in rain. They contain no urea so are not harmful when wet. They are free of hormones, growth promoters and antibiotics. A block form of salt allows animals to decide for themselves how much salt their body needs as daily needs vary. Naturally occurring minerals are not uniformly available – many areas have a low level of certain minerals in the soil and vegetation that requires supplementation to optimize animal health. By carefully adding minerals in quantities that meet daily requirements as balanced with a natural need for salt there is no risk of under or over-dosing as animals will instinctively decide how much salt they need. Available in a 20kg and a 10kg size block.
The following salt lick blocks are available in a 2kg size. They are circular with a hole in the middle so can be strung up on a rope.
Pure solar sea salt will soften hard water to prevent scale deposits and optimise the effectiveness of the dishwasher tablets you use. The result will be cleaner dishes, sparkier glassware, and a more hygienic dishwasher as the salt acts as an anti-bacterial agent. The compressed 5g pellets will slowly dissolve ensuring no clogging. Available in a 1kg size.
Hard water plagues many areas worldwide. Salt is a natural and effective means to balance the ions to achieve an effective water supply. The salt water tablets are compressed pure solar sea salt in hard 5g pellets that will slowly dissolve over time in a water unit. Available in 20kg bags.
